Gold Jacket Kevin Greene Ready To Be Honored in Pittsburgh

The Pro Football Hall of Fame and Kay Jewelers, the Official Jewelry Store of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will honor Class of 2016 enshrinee Kevin Greene this Sunday (Oct. 2), at Heinz Field when the Steelers take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

As a part of the halftime festivities, Greene will receive his Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence as one of the iconic symbols that represents the elite status of being a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

But the fun doesn’t stop there, legendary rock band Styx will be performing the National Anthem at Sunday night’s game. Styx has a long running relations with the Steeler, the Black and Yellow have adopted the band’s classic song “Renegade” as its unofficial theme song.

Along with honoring the Nation, Styx has dedicated a concert at Benedum Theatre in Pittsburgh Saturday night to Greene and his family. Wife, Tara Greene is no stranger to singing. She honored America during this year’s Enshrinement Weekend.

In an exclusive interview with www.wjbradio.com, founding Styx guitarist James “JY” Young had some kind words to say about Greene.

We were impressed with Kevin's football career as well as the fact that he is a huge STYX fan from Southern Illinois," says Young. "We're profoundly honored to be a part of the Pittsburgh tradition of celebrating their Hall of Fame inductees, especially this time as Kevin is being inducted. He's a great guy, friend and football player."

During the 2016 Enshrinement ceremony, the Hall echoes the sentiments of James “JY” Young as well, recognizing that Greene was not only a phenomenal football player but a man as well.

“Be men of honor, have integrity, be respectful, have an attitude of selfless service,” said Greene during his Enshrinement induction speech.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has hosted two legendary concerts at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, Aerosmith in 2015 and most recently Tim McGraw as a part of the Concerts for Legends during the Enshrinement Weekend. The Hall is looking to build on that momentum and host five other music shows.

Greene, will also be a part of the Hometown Hall of Famer Program this coming week in Granite City, Illinois. Returning back to his roots, Greene will dedicate his Ford Hometown Hall of Famer Plaque back to high school in honor of all the support he received along his path to the Hall of Fame.
