Vice President visits HOF
United States Vice President Dick Cheney made an impromptu visit to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, July 3.
The Vice President was in the midst of a short press tour which began earlier in the day in Parma, Ohio. He was en route to his next stop in Wheeling, West Virginia when he took a quick tour of the football shrine.
Followed by a large press corps, Cheney was greeted by Hall of Fame Board of Trustees Chairman John Muhlbach and Hall of Fame President John Bankert.
Upon entering the building the Vice President signed the Hall of Fame guest register, becoming the fourth United States Vice President to do so, following Spiro Agnew, Gerald Ford and Dan Quayle.
Cheney then took a 50-minute tour of the museum, taking a great deal of interest in the recently renovated Hall of Fame Gallery. All the while during his stay, he took time to shake hands and say hello to many of the Hall of Fame visitors in the building.
Following his time in the Hall, the Vice President boarded his tour bus, which was escorted by a large entourage of police vehicles, with his wife and granddaughter to head toward their next stop.
The Hall of Fame has been rather busy with high-profile politicians visiting the museum. Just a week ago, Senator John Kerry made a stop while on the campaign trail.
