Terry Bradshaw is one of only 14 players in the history of the National Football League draft to have gone from being the first overall pick of a draft to earning election into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

How the Steelers landed the No. 1 pick:

Second-year coach Chuck Noll planned on building the Steelers through the draft, a strategy that worked to great perfection. Pittsburgh finished with a 1-13 record in 1969 to give the franchise the draft’s first overall pick for the first time since 1956.

Scouting Bradshaw’s college career:

The MVP of the Senior Bowl, Bradshaw’s strong arm and nimble running ability attracted the attention of NFL teams. Bradshaw held every major school passing record as he racked up 7,149 yards and 42 TDs during his collegiate career.

Rookie debut:

Bradshaw started eight games during his rookie season and threw six touchdowns and 24 interceptions. Four of his six TD strikes were 50 yards or longer including an AFC-high 87-yard pass.

NFL Career Highlights:
