HOF NFL Kickoff/Fan Appreciation Celebration Tonight
Joe D to host event
For the second straight year, the Pro Football Hall of Fame will kickoff the National Football League regular season with a party in its parking lot. Hall of Fame guard Joe DeLamielleure will host the crowd during the Hall of Fame NFL Kickoff/Fan Appreciation Celebration on Thursday September 9, 2004.
The event, which is free to the general public, coincides with the kickoff of the NFL's 85th season later that night when the New England Patriots host the Indianapolis Colts. (Related story on NFL.com: 2004 NFL Opening Kickoff). The NFL was founded in downtown Canton on September 17, 1920.
The party, which is open from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM on the 9th, features live music, games, food, and a chance to win great prizes including a Harley-Davidson motorcyle. ABC's “NFL Opening Kickoff” special will also be shown on a large jumbotron during the event. "NFL Opening Kickoff" will have a star-studded musical lineup with performances from Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., and Jacksonville, Fla., site of Super Bowl XXXIX. The lineup includes Toby Keith, Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Destiny's Child, Jessica Simpson, and Mary J. Blige.
