Nearly 60 Organizations and Attractions to Participate

There will be a festival-like atmosphere on the grounds of the Pro Football Hall of Fame on May 18 and 19, as nearly 60 area organizations and attractions will participate in the Stark County Bicentennial Kickoff celebration. As announced earlier, the main event for the two-day celebration will be a Bicentennial Bell Casting for Stark County. The bell casting is a part of the Ohio Bicentennial Commission's statewide initiative to cast a bronze commemorative bell in each of Ohio's 88 counties. The Commission selected the Hall of Fame as the site for the casting of the Stark County bell.

The growing list of area attractions scheduled to participate in the Bicentennial Kickoff celebration includes the MAPS Air Museum, Canton Museum of Art, The Wilderness Center, North Canton Historical Society, Hoover Historical Center, Spring Hill Historic Home, and the Amish Door Restaurant and Village. Area Chambers of Commerce will also be present, as will civic organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Stark County 4-H Youth Development, and the YMCA of Stark County. There will be food vendors and entertainment throughout the weekend.

The Bicentennial Kickoff celebration is free and open to the public. The Stark County Bicentennial Kickoff is being sponsored by radio stations WHBC and Mix 94.1, Cutler/GMAC Realtors, Locker Moving and Storage, Inc., Canton Chair Rental, Pinnacle Press, and the Canton/Stark County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
