In the 1982 NFC Championship Game, the Redskins avenged their only defeat of the strike-shortened regular season - a 24-10 loss to the Cowboys - to earn a berth in Super Bowl XVII. Dexter Manley knocked Cowboys' quarterback Danny White out of the game with a bruising sack late in the first half. Then, with less than seven minutes to play in the game, Manley tipped a Gary Hogeboom pass into the hands of tackle Darryl Grant who ran 10 yards for a touchdown. John Riggins rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns to spark the Washington offense.
Final Score: Washington 31, Dallas 17

On Monday Night Football in Week One, quarterback Danny White threw three second-half touchdowns and ran for another to help the Cowboys overcome a 20-point halftime deficit. The win wasn't sealed until Ron Fellows' interception return set up a one-yard touchdown pass from White to Doug Cosbie.
