Thurman Thomas receives Hall of Fame ring

There are three physical icons associated with an individual being elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame; the enshrinee’s bronze bust, the gold Pro Football Hall of Fame jacket, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame ring.

All three symbols of pro football’s highest honor were on the field at Ralph Wilson Stadium during a special ceremony honoring Class of 2007 inductee Thurman Thomas at halftime of Monday night's Buffalo Bills-Dallas Cowboys classic.

Thomas, who was formally inducted into the Hall of Fame in early August, wore his gold jacket as he received his Hall of Fame ring from Pro Football Hall of Fame President/Executive Director Steve Perry.  Adding to the uniqueness of the ceremony was the fact that all of the Bills Hall of Famers’ busts were in Buffalo for festivities surrounding the ring ceremony.

Thomas is the second member of the Class of 2007 to receive his Hall of Fame ring.  Guard Gene Hickerson was honored by the Cleveland Browns during Kickoff Weekend.  Next weekend, Michael Irvin and Roger Wehrli will receive their rings during home games in Dallas and Arizona respectively.  Tight end Charlie Sanders’ ring ceremony is scheduled for the Detroit Lions’ home Thanksgiving Day game.  Bruce Matthews will be honored by the Tennessee Titans on December 2.
