Week 12 scoring topped 800 points
NFL scoring averaged 52.3 points per game
The football kicked by New Orleans Saints Garrett Hartley late in the first half of his team’s game against the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 24, 2008 has been added to the Hall of Fame’s collection.
Hartley’s 30-yard field goal with 1:42 remaining in the half put the NFL’s scoring total for Week 12 above 800 points. It was the first time in the 89-year history that a week’s scoring total eclipsed 800 points. By the end of the Saints’ 51-29 win over the Packers that night, the weekend’s point tally stood at 837. The previous mark was 788 points set three times (Sept. 5, 8-9, 2002; Dec. 5-6, 2004; and Dec. 29-30, 2007).
