Largent participates in Heart of a Hall of Famer Series

Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Steve Largent was in Canton on Fri. as part of the museum's Educational Outreach Program "Heart of a Hall of Famer" series.

Largent spoke during two morning sessionsabout the leadership and character traits that made him successful not only on the football field but in all of his life's endeavors.

Following his Hall of Fame career on the gridiron Largent set his sights on Congress where he served in the US House of Representatives from 1995-2001. Currently, Largent is the his President and CEO of CTIA-The Wireless Association.

More than 400 students from local area schools viewed the presentation as part of a live audience while another 800 students from eight states across the U.S. joined in via the Hall of Fame's videoconference technology.

Earlier in the day, Kent Oliver, executive director of the Stark County District Library, presented Largent with a framed poster bearing his image for a program that Largent took part in during the 2010 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival last August. Largent visited a local library where he read a book to children and stressed the importance of reading as part of an initiative to promote literacy.
