Payton's record run
These pieces of football memorabilia are from Hall of Famer Walter Payton's record-setting day on Oct. 7, 1984. The Bears running back became the NFL's all-time leading rusher as he broke the mark held by Jim Brown. This is Walter's helmet, headband, and shoes from the game. Originally, Walter donated the ball from the record carry and it was placed on exhibit in Canton. After the season, the ball was returned to Payton at which time he donated his complete uniform from the game along with another football that was used in Chicago's 20-7 win over the New Orleans Saints on that memorable day.
