The Haggar Gold Jacket Report - Issue 11
The Haggar Gold Jacket Report is a weekly update on recent news surrounding the very select group of men who’ve earned a place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Friends and family of Pro Football Hall of Fame safety WILLIE WOOD recently been lobbied Washington D.C. officials to rename a block in a Northwest neighborhood Willie Wood Way. The former Green Bay Packers great was honored, on Wednesday Mar. 28, 2012, by his hometown as his name was added to the N Street NW block that meets a corner with First Street NW in the neighborhood where Wood spent his childhood.
More than 100 residents, relatives and friends gathered on the corner for the unveiling, led by Mayor Vincent C. Gray (D). “The only thing I regret is we should have done this a long time ago,” Gray told the crowd.

On Monday, March 26, the Hall of Fame's Educational Outreach Program performed one of its character development series, "Heart of a Hall of Famer," with former Minnesota Vikings safety PAUL KRAUSE. The program provided students the opportunity to learn first-hand what it took beyond athletic ability for the Class of 1998 enshrinee to achieve great success.
Krause connected through videoconference and engaged with nearly 200 students from six different schools across the country. He discussed living life according to the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. Krause also stressed that character starts with having respect. He explained that it’s not only about people respecting you because of your actions but respecting those people in your life even if you don’t always agree with what they say.
The Hall of Fame great closed the program with a terrific lesson for today’s youth. He stated that he would much rather lose and play fair than win and cheat.

Hall of Fame linebacker SAM HUFF has been writing a column in the sports section of the Louden Times newspaper. This past Tuesday he wrote an article sharing his views about a controversial issue right now in the National Football league; player safety. He draws on his experiences throughout the years to explain what makes NFL Football such a great sport.
Huff does a nice job of giving the readers an inside glimpse of the camaraderie that exists between former players and especially Hall of Famers asn they arrive in Canton, Ohio for the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival.
