The Class of 2008 enshrinee continues to give back to his alma mater and is a member of the university’s Board of Trustees. Monk’s dedication and excellence on the gridiron will be saluted on Oct. 5 during Syracuse University's Big East opener against Pittsburgh in the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
Art is also one of 14 players who will be inducted into the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame on Dec. 4 in New York City. Monk is still tied for eighth on Syracuse's career receptions list (102) and ranks eighth on the career receiving yards list (1,644). He was named an All-American during his senior season in 1979.
The Speaker Series of Illinois State University seeks to bring innovative and enlightening speakers to the campus with the goal of providing the community a platform to foster dialog, cultivate enriching ideas and continue an appreciation of learning as an active and lifelong process.
A Class of 1988 enshrinee, Page attended law school while still a player in the NFL. He also founded and runs the Page Foundation, which provides much-needed financial and mentoring assistance to underrepresented students. The Page Foundation provides the assistance in exchange for those students’ commitment to further volunteer service in the community.

Hall of Fame quarterback STEVE YOUNG seems to be everywhere you turn these days. The Super Bowl XXIX MVP and San Francisco 49er great will serve as honorary Grand Marshal of the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival Parade in Half Moon Bay, Calif. on Saturday, Oct. 13.
"Steve Young has always been a heroic figure to Bay Area sports fans and is among the greatest players in the 49ers star-studded history," said Cameron Palmer, Chairman of the festival committee. "We're delighted and thrilled he has accepted our invitation to serve as parade Grand Marshal this year."
The 42nd annual Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival runs Oct. 13-14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main St. between Kelly Avenue and Spruce Streets in Half Moon Bay. Admission is free.
The festival is presented by the non-profit Half Moon Bay Beautification Committee as a community benefit.
Nearly two dozen Hall of Famers returned to Canton, Ohio to support the Pro Football Hall of Fame by playing in the Hall’s annual Golf Classic. The group of football legends braved intermittent rain to finish the fun charity scramble on the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course at Glenmoor Country Club in Canton.
The team captained by Minnesota Vikings’ great JOHN RANDLE won the tournament with a score of 19-under.
