Schaub’s 500-yard day preserved
In Week 11, Matt Schaub threw for 527 yards in the Houston Texans’ thrilling overtime win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. His yardage total tied Warren Moon for the second most passing yards ever in an NFL game. Schaub also became just the 14th quarterback to eclipse the 500-yard mark.
The jersey and shoes he wore during the milestone game were donated to the Pro Football Hall of Fame by the Texans. The mementos arrived at the museum on Wednesday morning and will be placed on exhibit in the Pro Football Today Gallery.
Schaub’s jersey and shoes are the latest of several significant artifacts received by the Hall’s curatorial staff since the 2012 NFL Season kicked off in September. A sampling of other mementos added to the collection this year include the ball kicked by David Akers on his record-tying 63-yard field goal, a pink penalty flag used during a game in October as the NFL paid tribute to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a jersey worn by Andrew Luck when he set the record for passing yards in a game by a rookie QB, and the football thrown by Drew Brees to break the long-standing record held by the legendary Johnny Unitas.
