Jamaal Charles made National Football League history during the Kansas City Chiefs’ 56-31 win over the Oakland Raiders in Week 15.
Charles became the first player in league history ever to record four touchdown receptions and also score on a touchdown run. Charles’ four TD grabs came on distances of 49, 39, 16, and 71 yards and his lone touchdown run was one yard.
PRESERVED IN CANTON. The shoes and gloves he wore while making history were donated to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The artifacts arrived in Canton shortly after the conclusion of the 2013 regular season. See image below.
Charles's five-touchdown day was the first in the NFL since 2003 and ties him with 12 others who’ve scored five touchdowns. Charles’ big day was just one touchdown shy of the all-time record of six TDs in a game shared by Hall of Famers Ernie Nevers and Gale Sayers, and Cleveland Browns halfback Dub Jones.
