Historic First for Russell Wilson

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson achieved something no quarterback has ever done. Wilson rushed for 106 yards on seven carries and also passed for two touchdowns while completing 23 of 36 for 313 yards. He is the first quarterback in NFL history with 300 yards passing and 100 yards rushing in a single game.

 

Aaron it Out

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers led his team to a 38-17 victory over the Carolina Panthers yesterday. In doing so, he logged his sixth straight game without an interception, tying Bart Starr for the franchise record set in 1964.

Rodgers also finished with a quarterback rating of 154.5. He is just the second player in NFL history with a rating of 150 or more in two of the first seven games of the season. New England's Tom Brady also did it in 2007.

The performance marked Rodgers’ fourth consecutive game with at least three touchdown passes and no interceptions, tied for the longest such streak in a single season in NFL history (TOM BRADY, 2007).

The Rivers to Gates Duo is the Best Ever

San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers during a tough loss to the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday. It marked the 67th career TD pass from Rivers to Gates, the most in NFL history from a quarterback to a tight end. Rivers also extended his team record to 27 straight games with at least one touchdown pass.


Sebastian Janikowski Goes Long

Sebastian Janikowski hit a 53-yard field goal in yesterday's 24-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The kicker is now tied for the second most attempts from 50 yards-plus in NFL history (Morten Andersen) with 84. Janikowski has made 46 of those attempts, which is good for second all-time behind Jason Hanson’s 52.
Drafted in the first round of the 2000 NFL Draft, Janikowski is the Oakland Raiders’ all-time leading scorer with 1,515 points.

DeMarco Murray Better Than Jim Brown

Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray moved ahead of Gold Jacket Jim Brown in the NFL record book yesterday. He is the first player in NFL history to start a season with seven straight games of 100 or more rushing yards.

Murray broke Brown's 56-year-old mark to help the Cowboys beat the New York Giants 31-21. His 913 rushing yards also leads the league this season and are the third-most rushing yards in a team’s first seven games since 1980 (Jamal Lewis, 977; Terrell Davis, 1,001).

 

Big Chief

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was drafted by the franchise in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Since then he has been the staple of that offense.

Charles rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. In doing so, the veteran running back made Chiefs history.
The seventh-year running back has amassed 6,113 yards on the ground to surpass Kansas City great Priest Holmes to become the franchise's all-time leading rusher.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady played in his 200th regular season game on Thursday night. Brady led the team to a 27-25 victory against the New York Jets. His record now stands at 153-47 (.765), which is the most wins through 200 games by any player in NFL history.
Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Gene Upshaw both have the second most victories through 200 games with 146.

The Buffalo Bills Honor a Legend

The Buffalo Bills honored legendary radio broadcaster Van Miller at halftime of their 17-16 victory over the Minnesota Vikings this weekend. The team placed Miller, who served as the Voice of the Bills from 1960-70 and 1978-2003, into the Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
