Marino a Hit at Gold Jacket Great Days

Hall of Famers Published on : 4/27/2015
Gold Jacket Dan Marino participated in the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s first-ever Gold Jacket Great Days series. Upon arrival, Marino was greeted by a group of fans.

The sold out event included two photo op and autograph sessions with a chalk talk hosted by Hall of Fame historian Joe Horrigan and admission to the Hall. Due to the demand, and a sellout of the original autograph sessions, a second autograph opportunity was added.

Fans got a chance to talk to Marino one on one during the photo and autograph session and had a phenomenal experience.

Tom George from Canfield, OH was one of those fans.

“I can't fully describe what it meant to me to finally meet Dan Marino in person. It was honestly one of the best days ever. Dan was as terrific as he was on the football field,” said George.

During the roundtable, Marino offered insight and recapped one of the greatest drafts in NFL history, the 1983 NFL Draft, in which he was selected 27th overall. He also shared personal stories from his career and answered questions from the sold-out crowd.

One of the questions he was asked was if he would trade in his Gold Jacket for a Super Bowl ring. His response was quick and simple:

Hundreds of fans from all over the world flocked to Canton for a rare opportunity to interact with Marino. They traveled from as far away as Mexico, Los Angeles and Canada for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"I will never forget how perfect the experience was. Dan was great and the Hall of Fame Staff delivered a truly first class experience.  It was handled with grace and precision. They seemed to know what we were experiencing and were there to help us at every turn. I will forever be a Dolphin and Marino fan. And now I’m a forever fan of my new family at the Hall of Fame. Again, it was special, special, special, special, special like I can’t describe. Thank you  for making one of my life’s dreams come true," explained George

Many other fans expressed their satisifaction with their experience during the event.

Even Marino was impressed with everything!
