Emmitt Smith's Reality Show Premieres on OWN Network

Gold Jacket and former Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith found success on the field with help from his teammates. Now with a new supporting cast and his leading lady, his wife Pat, Smith is finding success off the field and on the screen. Emmitt and Pat’s new reality show “Mrs. & Mr. Smith” premiered during an hour-long special on the Oprah Winfrey Network last Saturday.

The show centers around the couple and the changing dynamic of their relationship.

Pat is stepping out of Emmitt’s shadow after years of sacrificing her goals and aspirations in order to take care of their family. She gave up a career in fashion in order to raise their children, and now she’s reviving her career with support from Emmitt.

Pat was crowned Miss Virginia USA in 1994 and is the current founder and spokesperson of Treasure You, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women in financial, emotional or spiritual needs. She is also the CEO of Pat Smith Enterprises.

“You have to make adjustments,” explained Emmitt. “It takes a little bit of time and some deep thought about what it is that we need to get accomplished so we both have a chance to be very successful at what it is that we’re trying to do.”

Smith helped the Cowboys win three Super Bowls over four seasons from 1992 to 1995. He was named first-team All-Pro in each year during that four-year period. In 1993, he was named the NFL’s MVP and followed that by earning Most Valuable Player honors in the Cowboys’ 30-13 win over the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVIII. The former running back, who was named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s, finished his 226-game career by playing two final seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. He retired with a career total of 18,355 yards and a NFL record 164 rushing touchdowns. He also added 515 receptions for 3,224 yards and 11 touchdowns.
