"A Football Life: Steve Young" To Premiere at Hall of Fame This Weekend

NFL Network’s “A Football Life: Steve Young” will be premiered Friday (Oct. 7) at the Pro Football Hall of Fame with additional screenings on Saturday (Oct. 8). The one-hour documentary produced by NFL Films tells the story of the legendary Hall of Fame quarterback.

Throughout the film narrated by himself and Emmy-nominated actor Josh Charles, STEVE YOUNG describes the adversity he faced during his career and how overcoming such obstacles helped him to not only be successful on the field, but in life. The documentary also tells Young’s story about being a backup for Hall of Fame quarterback JOE MONTANA before eventually becoming the 49ers’ starter.

Young was selected first overall in the 1984 supplemental draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The left-handed quarterback was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 1987 and went on to play 13 seasons in San Francisco during the EDWARD J. DeBARTOLO, JR. era.

The Class of 2005 enshrinee set numerous records during his time in the National Football League, including in 1994 when he posted a then record 112.8 passer rating. He is also tied with Hall of Fame quarterback, SAMMY BAUGH, as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to win six passing titles. Young was a member of three championship teams, including Super Bowl XXIII, XXIV, and XXIX. Young threw a Super Bowl record six touchdowns in Super Bowl XXIX and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.

Young ended his career after the 1999 season with 33,124 passing yards, 232 passing touchdowns, and a 96.8 percent career passer rating. Additionally, he was named All-Pro four times, was awarded the NFL MVP twice, and named to seven Pro Bowls.

Guests visiting the Hall of Fame this weekend will have the opportunity to view “A Football Life: Steve Young” at no additional cost with the purchase of a museum admission. The hour long film will run continuously from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
