Elvin Bethea and Ken Houston Host Gridiron Glory

Members of the Houston Texans defensive backs unit, Johnathan Joseph and Quintin Demps, took 25 students from Pro-Vision Academy to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s traveling exhibit, Gridiron Glory.

Students had the opportunity to experience the best of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which is now on display at the University Museum on campus at Texas Southern University. As a part of the Super Bowl LI festivities, the exhibit has been stationed at TSU from the beginning of Super Bowl week and will remain there until the end of April.

The exhibit features hundreds of artifacts from the Hall of Fame’s collection and captures the essence of the Hall of Fame experience.

Hall of Famers are available for private tours for Gridiron Glory. For more information, please call 330-456-8207 and ask for Michelle Norris.

On the day, that Joseph and Demps visited the exhibit with the students, they all had the wonderful chance to meet and hear rich stories from Gold Jackets Elvin Bethea (2003) and Ken Houston (1986).

It's been fun, I'm kind of been a student myself with Hall of Famer Ken Houston kind of showing us the ropes," Demps said in an interview courtesy of Click 2 Houston.

"We're just talking about football (with the students) and just paying homage to the players who have come before us," Demps added.

“I was honored to be here," Joseph said. "Just to see where everything began with football and the way the game evolved. Just to be able to walk around and talk with the Hall of Famers here and just pick their brain about certain things that's great and just see the history of the game."

"It's really rewarding and a little more emotional than I thought it would be," Houston said about having a chance to talk to the kids about what they are seeing at the exhibit and about his experiences in football.

“I was telling a group that I was with, I've been in the Hall (of Fame) for 31 years. I was not one of the greatest athletes, but I ended up here. There are so many other guys that could be in this position, but they may just not have gotten the call," Houston added. "I feel very fortunate."
