HOF Artifact of the Week
This week's featured artifact are game-worn shoes by Hall of Famer Chris Doleman from late in his 14-year career. Doleman has 12 pairs of shoes in the Hall's collection - the most of any Hall of Famer.
When the Minnesota Vikings learned that QB Bernie Kosar was eschewing the 1984 NFL Draft to be selected into the Supplemental Draft they in turn, drafted Chris Doleman from the University of Pittsburgh. It was not a bad consolation prize. At the time of his retirement Doleman was fourth all-time in career sacks with 150.5 sacks. He recorded 10 or more sacks in eight different seasons. Perhaps Doleman’s best season came in 1989 when he led the league with 21 sacks.
Our weekly artifacts and other unique items are featured daily in our docent presentations for visitors of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Plan your visit to the Hall to learn more about the collection in our archives.
