Plaques for 2020, 2021 Inductees Installed at Black College Football Hall of Fame
The newly inducted Black College Football Hall of Fame (BCFHOF) Class of 2021, along with the Class of 2020 inductees, have found their home in Canton with the installation of their plaques in the Black College Football Hall of Fame Gallery.
The Gallery is open to all visitors of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
These plaques list the Hall of Fame-worthy accomplishments these players, coaches and contributors have brought to their respective Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
The 2020 class, which was the 10th anniversary class of the BCFHOF, includes Earl “Air” Harvey (North Carolina Central), James “Hound Dog” Hunter (Grambling State), Robert Mathis (Alabama A&M), Joe Taylor (Howard, Virginia Union, Hampton and Florida A&M), Dennis Thomas (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference administrator) and Erik Williams (Central State).
Inducted on June 19 as members of the Class of 2021 were Coy Bacon (Jackson State), Greg Coleman (Florida A&M), Jimmie Giles (Alcorn State), Winston Hill (Texas Southern), Roynell Young (Alcorn State) and Willard Bailey (Virginia Union, Norfolk State, St. Paul’s College and Virginia-Lynchburg).
Hill also is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Centennial Class of 2020. Nearly 10% of the enshrinees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame attended an HBCU – 34 of 354 when including the Centennial Class of 2020 and Class of 2021.
The Black College Football Hall of Fame has a permanent home inside the Pro Football Hall of Fame and tells the stories of the greatest contributors to HBCU football. The BCFHOF Classic showcases talented HBCU players of today and helps raise funds to carry on the mission of the BCFHOF into the future. The 2021 Classic, featuring Grambling State and Tennessee State, will be played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium over Labor Day Weekend. For more details on that event, Click Here.
