'Season Review' Display Updated with 2020 Artifacts
The “Season Review” display in the Pro Football Today Gallery has been updated to include several artifacts from the unprecedented 2020 National Football League season. The pieces in the Pro Football Hall of Fame that help tell the story of how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the NFL include:
- Robert Prince’s visor and shirt worn while serving as Detroit Lions head coach when Darrell Bevell tested positive for COVID-19. Prince was the first person to assume the role of interim head coach due to the virus.
- Mike Priefer’s outfit worn while serving as the Cleveland Browns head coach when Kevin Stefanski tested positive for COVID-19. Priefer became the first acting head coach in NFL history to win a playoff game.
- Laurent Duvernay-Tardif’s hospital scrubs from the long-term care facility where he worked on the front lines battling COVID-19 as a doctor rather than participating in the 2020 season.
- Rob Gronkowski’s Super Bowl LV contact tracer. The devices recorded data that could be retrieved to determine who were “high-risk close contact.”
- Andy Reid’s hat and attached custom-made medical face shield.
- Kendall Hinton’s QB wristband along with Tom Matte’s, who served as an “emergency quarterback” in 1965. When the entire Broncos roster of quarterbacks was declared ineligible to play due to violation of COVID-19 protocols, Hinton, a rookie, practice squad wide receiver, made his NFL debut as the Broncos’ quarterback in Week 12.
- Joe Burrow’s iPhone used for the virtual 2020 NFL Draft.
- Roger Goodell’s M&M jar and several cue cards from the virtual 2020 NFL Draft.
