The Mission Featuring Author Ricky Clemons
In a lead up to the 2021 Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic that will take place over Labor Day weekend (Sept. 3-5), HOF Productions recently welcomed Ricky Clemons to “The Mission” podcast. Clemons is the author of the football reference book, “Inbounds,” which covers the evolution of players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities in professional football.
Over 1,200 players from HBCUs have played in the NFL from 1949 to 2020, including 34 Pro Football Hall of Famers. All are catalogued in Clemons’ published work.
No stranger to breaking barriers himself, Clemons talked about being the first African American sports information director at the Sports Festival Games and the first African American as a Business and International Public Relations Manager in Major League Baseball.
