Pro Football Hall of Fame to honor military heroes in November

  • Veterans Day Event & Expo set for Friday, Nov. 11; Heroes Gala that evening to celebrate Legacy of Honor & Pat Tillman Foundation

 
CANTON, OHIO – The Pro Football Hall of Fame will host the Veterans Day Event & Expo on Friday, Nov. 11. It will feature multiple components.

The Veterans’ Services Expo will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with vendors stationed throughout the Hall to educate veterans about various services available to them. Those vendors will include Aultman Behavioral Health, Caregiver Support, Cleveland VA Medical Group, Direction Home, Honor Court, Legacy of Honor, Marine Corps League, Stark County Veterans Commission, Stark County Veterans Center, Suicide Prevention, Veterans Outreach and VA Benefit Administration. 

Upon arrival, veterans will receive a checklist to encourage them to stop at each vendor’s booth as they tour the Hall. Once completed, the checklist can be turned in to enter a drawing for a 2022 Salute to Service Hoodie from the Hall of Fame Store.

De Ann Williams, executive director for the Stark County Veterans Service Commission, will speak at noon in the James Allen Family Gold Jacket Lounge. Lunch will be provided by Chick-fil-A for the first 100 attendees.

Additionally, the first 250 visitors to the Hall on Nov. 11 will receive a free commemorative Veterans Day pin.

Free museum admission Nov. 11

The Pro Football Hall of Fame will provide free Museum admission and parking to all U.S. service members, National Guard and veterans, plus a guest, on Nov. 11. Blue Star and Gold Star families also will receive complimentary admission and parking on those dates. Valid proof of military service must be shown at the Hall’s Box Office. Additionally, each of these parties will receive a 20% discount in the Hall of Fame Store that day.


Heroes Gala: A Love Letter to Veterans

The Hall also is hosting the inaugural Heroes Gala: A Love Letter to Veterans the evening of Nov. 11. This special evening will kick off with a roaming cocktail hour throughout the museum followed by dinner and a program.

Pro Football Hall of Famer FRANCO HARRIS will host a roundtable with Linda DeHoff, co-author of “Open This Letter in Ten Years: Life Lessons from Dad’s Love Letters,” and Marie Tillman, author of “The Letter: My Journey Through Love, Loss and Life,” about their experiences as family members of those who served and the letters they sent.

Silent and live auction items will be available.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to distinguished organizations benefiting military service members, veterans and their families: Legacy of Honor and the Pat Tillman Foundation.
