The Stallions, coached by former Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz, will enter into Saturday night’s 8 p.m. playoff game ready to take on the New Orleans Breakers, who finished in second place in the South Division at 6-4.

Here are three things to know about the Stallions heading into this South Division playoff matchup.

Bo Knows 'Bama

Playing for a team based in the same state was where he starred as a running back for the Alabama Crimson Tide, running back Bo Scarbrough leads the Stallions in rush yards per game at 58.7.

Scarbrough had a brief stint in the NFL with the Seahawks and Lions before signing with Birmingham.

Wire-To-Wire

The Stallions started the season with an 8-0 record, before a 17-15 loss to the Houston Gamblers in Week 9. The Stallions would win the following week 21-18 against the Tampa Bay Bandits to finish with a 9-1- record.

Sweet Home Alabama

All eight USFL teams played their home games in Birmingham this season. Given the Stallions nearly flawless season, it begs the question as to how much they benefited from a home-field advantage.

With both the USFL Playoffs and Championship Game being played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, Birmingham will be playing on the road for the first time, needing two straight road wins to claim a league championship.
