The Pro Football Hall of Fame will honor its first class of Awards of Excellence recipients at 12 p.m. ET June 30 inside the Hall’s Nash Family Event & Conference Center during a closed luncheon. The award ceremony was also livestreamed on the Hall’s YouTube channel (you can watch below).
The Awards of Excellence initiative was designed to recognize individuals from four groups who work to drive team success within the sport: assistant coaches, athletic trainers, equipment managers and public relations personnel.
Receiving the awards for 2022 are Assistant Coaches Alex Gibbs, Jimmy Raye, Terry Robiskie, Fritz Shurmur and Ernie Zampese; Athletic Trainers George Anderson, Otho Davis, John Omohundro, Jerry Rhea and Fred Zamberletti; Equipment Managers Sid Brooks, Ed Carroll, Tony Parisi, Dan “Chief” Simmons and Whitey Zimmerman; and Public Relations Personnel Joe Browne, Charlie Dayton, Joe Gordon, Jim Saccomano and Gary Wright.
In addition to being honored at this ceremony, the names of Awards of Excellence recipients will be featured in a permanent display inside the museum.
More than 100 Hall of Famers to be on hand to welcome Class of 2022 to the club
The greatest of the game come out annually for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement. This year will be true to form as a packed roster of Hall of Famers will be on hand in Canton, Ohio, to welcome the Class of 2022 as they are officially enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
