Marvin Harrison of the Indianapolis Colts became just the sixth player in NFL history to catch 900 passes when he reached the plateau during Week 11 action. Harrison, in his 10th season, hauled in 82 catches for 1,146 yards, and tied for the league lead with 12 touchdown receptions in 2005. He jumped one spot in the Top 20 and his career numbers now read 927 catches for 12,331 yards and 110 touchdowns.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Rod Smith recorded his eighth 1,000-yard season in the past nine years as he hauled in a team-high 85 receptions for 1,105 yards and 6 TDs. Smith, who entered the Top 20 late in 2004 season, climbed five places among the career reception leaders in 2005 to finish his 11th year ranked No. 15 of all-time with 797 catches.

Five other active players climbed the Top 20 reception chart in 2005 including the lone newcomer to the list, Keyshawn Johnson (No. 20) of the Dallas Cowboys. The others are Jimmy Smith of the Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 7), San Diego Chargers' Keenan McCardell (No. 10), and a pair of St. Louis Rams - Isaac Bruce (No. 14) and running back Marshall Faulk (No. 16).
