By defeating Michigan 79-62, the Wildcats captured their second NCAA title in three years, itself a great achievement.

But unknowingly, with this achievement, they are now part of a new sports trivia question. In the same year, has there ever been a Super Bowl Champion with a Hall of Famer from that same team and a NCCA Champion from that same state?

The answer was “no” until last night when the Villanova Wildcats joined Brian Dawkins and the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles as Pennsylvania’s “Champions Class of 2018."

There have been occurrences when a NFL franchise has won a Super Bowl and that same team has had a representative enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the same year. Never before have these two accolades occurred in the same year that the city of the NFL franchise also had a university win a NCAA Basketball Championship.

Years when a NFL franchise won a Super Bowl and had a Hall of Famer Enshrined in the same year:

2014: Walter Jones (Seattle Seahawks)

2013: Jonathan Ogden (Baltimore Ravens)

2010: Ricky Jackson (New Orleans Saints)

1996: Mel Renfro (Dallas Cowboys)

1994: Tony Dorsett (Dallas Cowboys), Jackie Smith (Dallas Cowboys), Randy White (Dallas Cowboys)

1992: John Riggins (Washington Redskins)

1990: Bob ST. Clair (San Francisco 49ers)
