Randall McDaniel's helmet
Randall McDaniel donated the helmet that he wore throughout his entire tenure with the Minnesota Vikings. Although the visor and facemask had received upgrades over the years, the shell is the original helmet that was issued to McDaniel after he was drafted in the first round of the 1988 NFL Draft. McDaniel is believed to be the first NFL player to wear a tinted visor on his helmet.
McDaniel played 12 seasons for the Vikings before finishing his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The helmet was hand delivered to Hall officials by Randall’s wife Marianne who was visiting the Hall of Fame in late June 2009 to review preparations of Randall’s induction that August.
