New England Patriots Wide Receiver Wes Welker made history in Week 15 of the 2012 NFL Season when he became the first player to have five seasons with 100 or more receptions. A jersey from the record-setting season arrived today and is now part of the Hall of Fame’s collection.
Welker’s 100th catch came on a 12-yard pass from QB Tom Brady in the fourth quarter against the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 16, 2012. The 10-year veteran previously shared the record with Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison and Brandon Marshall. Welker finished the year with an AFC best 118 receptions for 1,354 yards and six touchdowns.
The newly acquired artifact will be placed on display in the Pro Football Today Gallery.
