McElhenny, St. Clair & Tittle to Receive New Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence

The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Ring of Excellence, which is provided by Kay® Jewelers, will be presented to three legends from the San Francisco 49ers – Hugh McElhenny, Bob St. Clair, and Y.A. Tittle during a special presentation at halftime of the 49ers-Washington Redskins game at Levi’s® Stadium on Sunday.

"Hugh, Bob, and Y.A.’s Rings of Excellence reflect the incredible achievement of enshrinement while also celebrating their unique careers. The ring features intricate detail and state-of-the-art craftsmanship, from the ‘stadium effect’ created by the outer diamonds to completely customized sides featuring their name, years in the league, position and even an engraving of their Hall of Fame bust."
The Hall of Fame Ring of Excellence is one of three iconic symbols that represent the elite status of being a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In addition, Hall of Famers received their Hall of Fame Gold Jacket that is awarded on the eve of the Enshrinement Ceremony each year and the Bronze Bust that is unveiled during the Enshrinement and placed permanently on exhibit inside the Hall of Fame Gallery.
McElhenny, the 49ers first round pick in 1952, was named to six Pro Bowls during his career that began with nine years in San Francisco. In all, he totaled 11,375 combined net yards in 13 seasons that included stops with the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Detroit Lions. He was enshrined into the Hall of Fame in

St. Clair, a native San Franciscan, was the 49ers third round draft pick in 1953. He possessed size (6’9”), speed, and great football intelligence during his 11-year NFL career, all with San Francisco. A four-time All-NFL pick at tackle, he also played goal-line defense and chipped in on special teams. He recorded 10 blocked field goals in 1956. St. Clair, the team’s longtime captain, was also named to five Pro Bowls and elected to the Hall of Fame in 1990. (HOF Bio)
Tittle began his pro career in the rival All-America Football Conference in 1948 and became the 49ers quarterback in 1951. He led San Francisco for 10 seasons before completing his career by playing four years with the New York Giants. In all, he threw for an incredible 33,070 yards and 242 touchdowns. Tittle was named to seven Pro Bowls and was selected All-NFL four times in his career. He was elected to the Pro Football of Fame in 1971. (HOF Bio)
