Historic rookie start: Rams Puka Nacua’s jersey now on display at Hall of Fame

Each week, Los Angeles Rams rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua continues to amaze fans around the world, breaking numerous NFL records. 

His performance in Week 5 of the NFL season saw his name next to more records: most receptions (46) and receiving yards (572) by a rookie in their first five games. After a seven-catch day against the Philadelphia Eagles, totaling 71 yards and his second touchdown of the season, Nacua’s name is spread across the NFL record book. 

His game-worn blue and gold No. 17 jersey from Week 5 is now on display in the “Pro Football Today Gallery” at the Hall of Fame. 

To recap his historic start: 
  • Most receptions by a rookie in his first two games: 25 (passing Earl Cooper’s 19 in 1980).
  • Most receptions for a rookie in any two-game span, passing Odell Beckham Jr.’s 23 from 2014.
  • First rookie in history to record 10-plus catches and 100-plus receiving yards in his first two games.
  • Second player in NFL history with at least 100 receiving yards in three of his first four career games, joining Harlon Hill (1954). 
  • Most receptions by a rookie in his first four games: 39 (passing Anquan Boldin’s 30 in 2003).
  • Most receptions by a rookie in his first five games: 46 (passing Reggie Bush’s 34 in 2006).
  • Third player in NFL history with at least five receptions in each of his first five career games, joining Terry Glenn (1996) and CeeDee Lamb (2020).
  • Sixth player ever with at least 50 receiving yards in each of his first five games, joining Ja'Marr Chase (2021), Terry Glenn (1996), CeeDee Lamb (2020), Earl McCullouch (1968), and Terry McLaurin (2019).
