Bob Lilly to present Chuck Howley at 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement

Scott Howley, the son of CHUCK HOWLEY,(Opens in a new window) said Monday that Pro Football Hall of Famer BOB LILLY(Opens in a new window) will present Chuck during the Class of 2023’s Enshrinement. Lilly was included in the group of former Dallas Cowboys teammates that told Howley he would be joining the Hall of Fame during "The Knock" at Howley’s door earlier this year.
The two were a part of the vaunted "Doomsday Defense" of the Cowboys during the 1960s and 1970s. Lilly, a defensive lineman, and Howley, an outside linebacker, played together in back-to-back Super Bowls (V and VI).
Howley was named MVP of Super Bowl V, a 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Colts. He remains the only player from a losing team to win that award.
When Howley was inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor, he joined a short list of three other Cowboys to be honored. Lilly was one of them.
Hall of Famers ROGER STAUBACH,(Opens in a new window) CLIFF HARRIS(Opens in a new window) and MEL RENFRO(Opens in a new window) also participated in "The Knock" at Howley’s home in Dallas, as did former Cowboys teammates Lee Roy Jordan and Charlie Waters.
The Class of 2023 will be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. Tickets for Enshrinement are available at www.profootballhof.com/tickets.(Opens in a new window)
