HALLoween a hit at Hall

10/17/2011

The fifth annual HALLoween Family Fun Day took place at the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011. The museum, transformed with numerous Halloween decorations, included 20 stations for the kids to trick-or-treat.

Nearly 1,000 guests donated two non-perishable items per person to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank to receive a special admission price. Kids under the age of 12 were admitted for $8 and accompanying adults were $10. The Foodbank collected 1,496 pounds of food that will provide 1,151 meals.

Dressed up in their favorite costumes, each child received a trick-or-treat bag as they entered to collect numerous different types of Hershey's candy and Halloween treats. Kids also participated in a football scavenger hunt as they made their way throughout the museum for a chance to win a birthday party at the Hall.

Trick-or-treaters made crafts and played games in the Hall's meeting room, and enjoyed Halloween movies with complimentary popcorn and cotton candy in the NFL Films Theater. Kids also enjoyed balloon artist station and had their faces painted by students from Canton's Timken High School.

The Hall's lower parking lot also was filled with many attractions for guests. Chick-fil-A was on hand with breakfast and lunch food for purchase. The Farm at Walnut Creek brought a petting zoo with a zebra, giraffe, camels, goats, sheep, birds and other animals for kids to feed and enjoy. They also had pumpkins, mums, cornstalks, gourds and other fall decorations available for purchase and small pumpkins to paint.

Several mascots from the surrounding area were in attendance for picture opportunities and interacted with the kids. Slider from the Cleveland Indians, Sir CC and Moondog from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Freddie LaFever from Aultman Health Foundation, Chick-fil-A cow, Pigskin from the Canton/Stark County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Rudi from the Cleveland Gladiators, and the Oakland Raiders' ultimate fan Crusher greeted guests.

The sixth annual HALLoween Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012.
